In June of 2010 our teacher, Geshe-la, returned to Drepung Gomang In India to visit the monastery and offer support to the monks there. Prior to his departure, the DGI board completed a food drive to feed the monks for the entire day and also offer a stipend to every monk there. We are happy to say that we were able to raise 2,800 dollars to do so. All the money raised was given to Geshe-la and then exchanged at the highest possible rate for reupees. From there the funds were given to the monastery food fund and then distributed to each monk individually. Below you will find pictures of the board members, Geshe-la, and others doing exactly that. Geshe-la did not keep any funds for himself and the board members paid they own way in India, not one dollar of DGI money was used to offset costs. In fact Geshe-la distributed personal funds throughout his visit, as did the board members.

DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD DRIVE FUNDS

Funds were distributed directly to the monks throughout the day. the entire puja was recorded by the monastery and if we are able to get a copy, will make a copy for all people who made a donation. Stipends given to administration staff prior to the puja due to them being unable to attend. Below are pictures  of the funds being distributed, while pictures of the Puja are located to the left.
