Donations are a way for you to give to the center so to keep it up or running. DGI is a 501(C) organization, meaning that donations made to the center can be considered tax deductible.

Financial Donations 

Financial donations to the center are used to pay the mortgage, costs of running DGI, and other expenses of the center. Board members are volunteers and do no get paid for the work they do or times given to the center. The monks and translator get a very small stipend. If you are interested in making a financial donation, and you want to claim it for your taxes, please complete the "donation form" by the donation basket, complete the form , and place you donation (with the form) in an envelope in the basket. A letter from DGI will then be sent to confirm you donation to DGI that can be used for tax filing. we ask that you only donate what you can afford. If you give and then regret it afterwards, it counteracts the good merit you earned by giving in the first place.

Please note: You are more than welcome to give directly to the monks or translator, but please be aware that DGI cannot provide you a letter for tax purposes in those instances. Our account and lawyer has advised us if the money does not go to DGI, then we cannot issue documentation of the donation.

In Kind Donations

In-kind donations refer to specific items that you donate to DGI. They can be things like food, paper products, cleaning supplies, etc. Please check the "job and supplies" board by the back entrance for needed items. to make an in-kind donation please take one of the cards off the board, drop off you donation under the donation table, and if you would like a tax letter, fill out the "donation form" and place the card and form in an envelope and deposit it in the donation basket. If you do not need a letter, you do not have to complete the form (put do put the card in the basket). The "job and supply board" will have listed what items are needed.

Please Note: It would be appreciated that if you are thinking of donating a large item, such as furniture, that you contact the appropriate committee member first to see if the item is needed. In order to have a coherent look to DGI, we have to be sure a given item is needed and will look appropriate within the context of the building.
